The Sylt Sailing Week is grown from a 17-year tradition of successful regattas of the organizers ProSail Sail Events - 10 days Westerland on the North Sea island of Sylt.
One of the highlights of each race season for Hobie 16 sailors is the Final Race. The best Hobie 16 sailors some together after stops in Grömitz, Kellenhusen and Scharbeutz. After a day of training in the regattas will begin on Saturday, August 9th. Starting in exciting fleet races to complete the ranking for the team match race on Sunday. Team match race – two Hobie 16 in one team, two teams, 4 Hobie 16 on the water and the winner is the team without the last 4th place.
The Monday belongs "non-sailors" and tourists. The 4th Sylt Tourist Open will give 8 people the great opportunity to be part as a crew of the Hobie World for one day. Introductions by our champions, training on the water, in the afternoon regatta sailing followed by a real price giving ceremony. The winners will all have an unforgettable day with World-, European- and German Champions on the North Sea.

C.I. HOBIE CAT CHAMPS NOR will be out in the next couple of days. Scheduled for the 30th & 31st August. The major Hobie event of the year – Open to all, not to be missed.
The wind turned out to be a lot lighter on the final day than what we had been used to the previous days. The sea breeze settled in around 1400H. By competent race management the Race Committee succeeded to squeeze a second race in for the Hobie 16s with only a very few minutes to the time limit at 1530H. The Wild Cat, Tiger and FX-Ones got one race.
France ruled the waves at this event taking the majority of podium positions:

Congratulations to all the winners. In addition, a huge thank you to Juan Antonio Llabrés and Sergio Cadenas and their team for putting this excellent event together with the overwhelming friendliness and hospitality extended all of us. This will for sure be an event to remember for not only the great wind and outstanding race management! J
Another rather animated day on the water. The forecasted winds the last couple of days have proved to be slightly more moderate than what actually became the case….……..at least on the waters here outside Castelldefels.
Today it meant the wind again increased to about 30 kts. Two races were accomplished before the sailors were sent back to the beach and pasta in the Hobie Village.
The Bader brothers (FRA) consolidated their lead in the HC16 class with a first and a second. The positions 2-5 are a lot more open before entering the final day.
In the Wild Cat class, Julien Feraud/Charles Gate (FRA) consolidated their lead as well, with Gerard Loos/Andy Dinsdale (NED/FRA) in a strong second.
Tomas Testor (ESP) had a great day on in the FX-One class with two firsts. He is now leading the fleet with the same score as previous frontrunner Alfredo Bernad (ESP) setting up the stage for an exciting finish tomorrow.
Acopo Salvemini/Michelle Mediel Bojorg (ESP) took over the lead in the FX-One Double.
We have said it before……… the weather forecast for tomorrow, last day of the championship, looks bit more peaceful. We might be able to tell for sure after the racing! ;-)
