Sylt Sailing Week
The Sylt Sailing Week is grown from a 17-year tradition of successful regattas of the organizers ProSail Sail Events - 10 days Westerland on the North Sea island of Sylt.
One of the highlights of each race season for Hobie 16 sailors is the Final Race. The best Hobie 16 sailors some together after stops in Grömitz, Kellenhusen and Scharbeutz. After a day of training in the regattas will begin on Saturday, August 9th. Starting in exciting fleet races to complete the ranking for the team match race on Sunday. Team match race – two Hobie 16 in one team, two teams, 4 Hobie 16 on the water and the winner is the team without the last 4th place.
The Monday belongs "non-sailors" and tourists. The 4th Sylt Tourist Open will give 8 people the great opportunity to be part as a crew of the Hobie World for one day. Introductions by our champions, training on the water, in the afternoon regatta sailing followed by a real price giving ceremony. The winners will all have an unforgettable day with World-, European- and German Champions on the North Sea.
On Tuesday the famous Sansibar Race will start in Westerland to the beach of Rantum to Germanys most famous beach restaurant Sansibar. Prosail VIP teams and sponsors are invited for a middle distance race with a lunch break at the beautiful beachside. The winner will get perhaps the most beautiful and valuable trophy that the sailing scene has ever seen. 70 cm high showing the North Sea island of Sylt with a diamond at the geographic position of the Sansibar.
Wednesday kick off for the Hobie World Cat 2014. Prosail says hello to 10 teams from 10 countries and 6 continents of our world. Sailors from Germany, Australia, India, the Netherlands, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, Denmark, South Africa and the USA compete in the waves right in front of Westerland. Spectacular races every day from 11:30 am close to the beach, so that anyone interested can have a very close look at the regattas. The visitor-friendly sailing on this event attracts tourists, children and not sailors to the limit. All races will be will comment by two moderators.
At the end a big price giving ceremony on last Sunday the 17th will close the Sylt Sailing Week 2014.
In addition to the top sporting highlights of the week the promenade of Westerland is meeting place for best food, drinks, party and music.
